Welcome to the Winter edition of the Body Electric School newsletter. In this edition we give you the latest Celebrating the Body Electric workshop dates, news about the forum for graduates, an update on the graduate’s reunion and provide an article that may be of interest to you.

Six men from Australia and New Zealand are about to head over to Wildwood the Body Electric retreat centre in California. They will be participating in a number of Intensives. Wildwood is a beautiful and powerful place and I wish all these men an enriching and powerful journey.

New Forum for Graduates

Most graduates will now be aware that we have created a forum section on the web site, allowing graduates from different workshops to communicate with each other. I am excited with the opportunities this will offer men in Australia and New Zealand to connect with each other expanding the Body Electric community. All graduates should have received an invitation to register and sign in, if you have not received one please contact the forum moderator.

We also welcome your contributions, so if you would like to write an article for posting on the web site, please email it to me. In due course you will be able to post these directly to the site, where they will be published after approval.

Introductory Evenings for Sydney Workshop

Sydney Co-Ordinator Bob Moore is holding free introductory evenings for men interested in learning more about Celebrating the Body Electric. To be held on Wednesday 19 July and Tuesday 15 August, this is great opportunity if you know someone who is interested in the workshop to get a feel of what Body Electric offers.

2006 Reunion Cancelled

Due to logistics we have had to change a few planned events for 2007.

The Reunion for graduates in December has been cancelled. Keep your dates free for 2007 with one being held in Northern NSW on 5-6 May and one on the Shoalhaven river in late November.

Also, instead of a Dear Love of Comrades Intensive in February we will be doing for the first time a four day Power, Surrender and Intimacy (PSI) Workshop on the beautiful Bamarang bush retreat on the Shoalhaven river.

Article: Getting Older

“Older” is one of those words that makes us ambivalent. To apply the word to someone else feels a little rude. To apply it to ourselves makes us swallow hard! We may have spent the first couple of decades of life looking forward to the rewards that getting older would bring us – being old enough to drive, vote or drink – but after that, the rewards seem a lot more abstract.

Let’s start out with the obvious: getting older sure as hell beats the alternative. The only way to avoid aging is to die young, and that’s an awfully high price to pay. And aging is relative. You and I have both been doing it since the day we took that first breath, but getting older isn’t a cause for concern when we’re young; we’re more worried about when our skin will clear up.
