Introductory Evenings for Brisbane Workshop

Brisbane Coordinator's David Murrin and Michael Campbell are holding free introductory evenings for men interested in learning more about Celebrating the Body Electric. To be held on Wednesday October 18, this is great opportunity if you know someone who is interested in the workshop to get a feel of what Body Electric offers.

Power Surrender & Intimacy: Exploring Conscious S/M (for Men)
with Dave Allen

Join other CBE graduates at the beautiful Bamarang Bush retreat on the banks of the Shoalhaven River for a journey that honours the dynamics of S/M play and its role in expanding self-awareness.

Those who come to Body Electric workshops are often surprised by the levels of ecstasy they experience. At the end of the weekend many men express gratitude for having explored places inside themselves they did not even know were possible.

Power, Surrender & Intimacy is similar. Men who attend this workshop are often surprised by the depths of masculine energy they experience, a kind of initiation into the power of their male body. This workshop does not require any previous S/M knowledge or experience, and it will teach you more about freedom, service, trust, compassion and fun.

Body Electric T-Shirts Now Available

There have been many requests for Body Electric merchandise, so we have teamed up with Café Press to produce some. The advantage of using Café Press is you can order your items over the Internet on an "as needs" basis – meaning we don't have to hold stock and your purchase is produced with each order. All proceeds from the sale of these items goes towards keeping our course fees down and supporting the web site. Over time we will be adding more designs and products, so if you have any requests please email us.

Sydney Massage Evening

Bob Moore is introducing massage evenings for CBE graduates in Sydney. These will be held on the 3rd Monday of the month, with the first evening commencing on October 16. Details of location will be posted in the Forum on the NSW & ACT Meeting Up board, with evening date's published in the Forum calendar.

Forum Update

The Graduates Forum is now operating and providing a means for you to communicate with other Body Electric brothers. One of the areas proving useful for members are the Meeting Up boards. If you're travelling or setting up massage evenings, post the details on these boards to keep everyone informed. You can also use the Forum calendar to list the events.

To visit the Forum, go to www.bodyelectricoz.org.

Article: Retreat Yourself
by Andrew Gardner

As the car begins its ascent along the mountain road, the smell of the Redwoods and the surrounding forest become fresh and inviting. The beginning of another Body Electric journey begins and I’m feeling keen yet slightly apprehensive. As we arrive at Wildwood Retreat, set high on a mountain top in northern California, we are greeted by the sounds of arrival as cars are unpacked, men splash in the pool and the shouts of recognition as men call out to each other.

Situated 2 hours north of San Francisco on the Russian River, Wildwood Retreat consists of more than 200 acres of unspoiled forest, meadows and streams.

Article: Walls, Emotions and Intimacy
by John R. Ballew, M.S., L.P.C.

Many of us talk about wanting more intimacy in our lives. We aren’t very certain about how to get what we want, though. And sometimes it seems like we just when we are closest to getting what we desire, we somehow sabotage or thwart ourselves. What gives?

Intimacy has been called an “unarmed encounter between two vulnerable individuals.” Allowing ourselves to become vulnerable isn’t easy; vulnerability implies that we might get hurt. No one wants to get hurt. Little boys learn quickly that getting hurt not only hurts, but that it isn’t very manly to show your pain. We then start the process of building walls that keep us from experiencing what seems like not only pain, but also humiliation.
